“Mr. Hannah, I was a guest in attendance at today's meeting of the Scottsboro Rotary Club and enjoyed your talk on leadership. I was with Ron Bailey who greeted you as you arrived at Western Sizzlin'. Just to maybe jog your memory - I'm sure you don't remember this as well as I do. In 1974/1975, I was a 14-year-old from Albertville and you allowed me to take care of your lawn work at your home which was located near Evans Elementary School and the Rec Center in Albertville. I also helped you on your farms at Snead and Painter for a while (along with a kid named Art Roberts) and admit that I was not a very good hand at the farm work. At the time you were into the CB radio craze as I was. My call sign was "shoestring" and yours was "hog". I still have an autographed photo that you gave to me. Again, while this may not register with you, you made a big impression on this then-teenage boy. I will always remember your kindness to me. I can still remember one of your dogs, the bassett hound but can't much remember the other. I just wanted to take a minute to reminisce about those times 35 years ago and tell you how much I appreciate you allowing me to work for you and with you and also to tell you how much I enjoyed your presentation today. I graduated from Albertville High School in 1978. During your talk, you mentioned John Maxwell and his teachings of which I am a huge fan. I have all his books and have attended many of his simulcasts. I appreciate your time in reading this and appreciate the person and example that you are. I wish you continued success in your work.”
