Former New England Patriots Offensive Lineman Greets Returning Troops at Hanscom Air Force Base
NASHVILLE, Tenn (December 17, 2009) — Upon special invitation, John “Hog” Hannah joined a ceremony celebrating the sacrifice and dedication of our military personnel returning from deployment last week at the Hanscom Air Force Base in Bedford, Massachusetts. The semi-annual event recognizes the service of men and women who protect our freedoms daily through active duty.
A welcome host, Hannah escorted the honorees into the base’s Hangar 1722 as the special guest of honor. Also recognizing the accomplishments of our brothers and sisters in uniform were members of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Patriots Cheerleaders, Lowell Devils mascot Devil Dog, Hanscom’s mascot Freddie Freedom and Santa Claus
"We cherish your service and we are proud of you,” said Hannah when speaking at the event."
In the professional world of sports, John “Hog” Hannah is a legend in the NFL. Having spent his entire 13-year career with the New England Patriots, the name John Hannah evokes edge-of-your-seat memories of the Offensive Lineman who also played for the Alabama Crimson Tide. A two-time, All-American (a unanimous ”pick” in 1972—his senior year in college), Hannah earned a position on the University of Alabama All-Century Team and the Alabama All-Decade team (1970). John was the fourth overall pick in the 1973 NFL Draft by the New England Patriots; he earned a ten-time recognition as All-Pro and All-AFC and played in nine Pro Bowls. Hannah was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1991.

Huntsville, Alabama (October 13, 2009) – Named by Sports Illustrated Magazine as “The Best Offensive Lineman of All Time” and inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility, John Hannah’s accomplishments in football are legendary. He was named to Alabama’s All-Century Team and the 1970’s All-Decade Team.
